Non-printable characters in dialog boxes

Does anyone know what XP file builds the dialog boxes for the accessory
programs for "save before close" and the print execution status? All text
except the file name is question marks or unprintable "squares". I see it in
Paint and other MS native tools and with third party applications like
TurboCad only. Office apps are fine. I obviously have a corrupt file
somewhere as problem recently arose on only one of three similar computers.

Not losing sleep over this, but inquiring minds need to know.

Hi John,

Deleting the localization file mfc42loc.dll from %windir%\system32 folder should fix the problem.
