Re: Windows XP cant restart my PC after BIOS Update ... Need Help!

what likely happened is that
when you updated your bios,
the o.s. saw this as a major
change in configuration.

the usual method to syncronize
the o.s. with the new bios would
be to do a repair installation with
the windows cd.

however, is seems that after
some fiddling on your part you
ended up re installing a new
o.s. instead of a repair installation.

the question you ask now is if
you can regain the your old
o.s. because it is likely that it has
all of your third party programs and
other stuff as well.

and the answer is "maybe" and
depends on the following:

if you installed the new o.s.
into a different partition or a different
folder, then you still have all the
system files intact and spared from
being overwritten by your new install.

however, if you simply installed
a new o.s. right over the older
o.s. and the system folders,
then you are out of luck, unless
you have a backup of you disk
or partition or system folders.
