| LCD monitor shuts down, but the PC is still running Had to reinstall Windows XP and now all of a sudden the monitor goes black and I can't get it start back up without rebooting. The PC is still running, but the monitor shuts down. All components are high end, I just built this PC a few months ago and it's a new Gateway LCD monitor. I've checked the settings for sleep mode and hybernation, and that shouln't be the problem. Could something be overheating? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, JLC |

| Re: LCD monitor shuts down, but the PC is still running Hello, Check whether your caps lock LED lights up when your monitor goes black. If it does not, then it indicates that the whole system has stalled. It seems to be a display or video card overheating/malfunctioning problem. You may want to try switching video cards and see if it resolves the issue. -- Singapore Website Design http://www.bootstrike.com/Webdesign/ Singapore Web Hosting http://www.bootstrike.com/WinXP/faq.html Windows XP FAQ "JLC" <Jeff.Coleman71******.com> wrote in message news:1178817574.872821.124480@y80g2000hsf.googlegr oups.com... > Had to reinstall Windows XP and now all of a sudden the monitor goes > black and I can't get it start back up without rebooting. I'll check the fans and temps when I get home to see if it's overheating. Thanks, JLC |
