Network Drive Icon Opens "Open With"

Hi,

When I click on specific network drives it comes up with the "Open with"
menu and the "Always use the selected program" option is grayed out. I can
right click and explore and it will work fine.

I've looked through the forum and i've tried running

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

as well as checking

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell
Set (default) to "none" (without ")

and a slew of other .reg or .vbs files that say it fixes the problem, but
nothing appeared to work.

Re: Network Drive Icon Opens "Open With"

What is the default option (shows in Bold letters) when you right-click a network drive-letter?

Re: Network Drive Icon Opens "Open With"

The below resolution seems to have fixed it. I didn't see an _Autoplay but I
did see a folder (key) called Shell while other mapped drives did not have
this. I deleted this key and it seems to have worked. Thank you for your
assistance.

"I had the same issue on a machine running XP Pro and a friend found a
solution, maybe it will work for you. In the registry editor I did a
search for a key called MountPoints2. Under that key are listed
mapped resources, and a subkey to the one in question there was a
_Autoplay and a Shell key. After deleting both keys and saving the
registry, it worked as normal. "

Re: Network Drive Icon Opens "Open With"

Delete the file named autorun.inf from the network drive's root folder. If no such file exists, try this:

Click Start, Run and type:

reg export "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ex plorer\MountPoints2" c:\mpoints.txt

Then open c:\mpoints.txt using Notepad, copy the contents and paste it here.

For more information, see my post here:

"Open With" dialog appears when double clicking on mapped network drive in my computer:
