| System Restore Monitoring Off on Specific Drives Using Registry I want to turn off System Restore monitoring on specific disks on a machine. These disks are temporary data only and the System Restore points get in the way of laying down contiguous files for fast processing. Yes, I know this sounds whacky, but - trust me - it's a real situation. In any case, I know how to turn off System Restore in the registry. I don't want to turn if off completely. I just want to turn off monitoring of 2 specific disks. I want to make the change in the registry because I will include changing this value in a script - a script which first formats the drives. Unfortunately, formatting a drive appears to automatically turn on drive monitoring for system restore. Anyone know the registry keys for this? As usual, Microsoft tech notes assumes that you're going to want to do everything through the GUI. Sheesh. |
