| Remove the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool? how can I remove this spyware from our systems? I don't mind having to validate the computers when it's time to get downloads from Microsoft but I see absolutely no need for an activated copy of windows to phone home every day saying "I'm still legit". Does anyone know how I can remove this from our systems? -JS- |

| Re: Remove the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool? Thanks. I'll try the first method suggested. We're not getting nagged about counterfeit software (we have valid licensing for all our systems) I just don't want this spyware running on our network computers ( we only have 53 systems. I can only image this on 1,000+!) We have WSUS set to monitor these in the future and will disable the reinstallation of this muck but there are a few systems that got it installed and I really want it off. I'll live with the "Download Genuine Check" copy/paste routine. I have no problem with Microsoft wanting to validate my copies of XP but the WGA thing went a bit too far for me. Thanks for the link. -JS- > >Jacques Schett wrote: > >> how can I remove this spyware from our systems? >> >> I don't mind having to validate the computers when it's time to get >> downloads from Microsoft but I see absolutely no need for an activated >> copy of windows to phone home every day saying "I'm still legit". >> >> Does anyone know how I can remove this from our systems? >> >> -JS- > > >The history of WGA and WGA-Notification, and solutions: > >http://www.mydigitallife.info/2006/0...ns-nag-screen/ |

Even though they have 3 WGA times before without this. WGA callin' home everytime for this last WGA goes beyond necessity, consumes bandwidth worldwide. -- Dave Apathy and denial are close cousins |

Wasn't one of the solutions to block WGA at the outgoing firewall? |
