| Restore files inadvertently cleared from Clipboard I copied a bunch of pictures to the clipboard and inadvertently (read dumb mistake) said "yes" to clear the clipboard before I pasted them. Is there any way to recover these pics? They are not in the trash bin.... Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks! |

Try this: Download and run Restoration or another Undelete program. The more you use the hd with the deleted files, the more data you overwrite, so you should download the program to a flash drive, or floppy. http://www.snapfiles.com/get/restoration.html http://www.recuva.com/ -- Joe =o) |

| Re: Restore files inadvertently cleared from Clipboard Yes, I am aware of the overwriting problem, so I am being as careful as I can be. I will try an undelete pgm. Thanks for your suggestion! If you "copied" them to the clipboard, then there should be a source file that you copied from. Also the XP clipboard only holds one item which is replaced when a another item is copied. So how was it that you copied "a bunch of pictures"? What clipboard? -- Rock [MS-MVP User/Shell] |

If so, whatever was in the clipboard went away when the OP logged off. Jim |

| Re: Restore files inadvertently cleared from Clipboard Yes, it was a Cut, not a Copy - I misspoke in my post. Here is what I did. I selected a group of pics from Picture Manager, did a right-click on a folder to paste the pics, but the paste option was greyed out. So I just closed Pic Mgr, at that point I answered Yes to clearing the clipboard (should have said NO). I should have just done a copy from File Manager, but I tried another approach and it didn't work. HOWEVER, there is good news as I found a copy of the pics on a backup CD I did a while ago. Lessons learned: 1) Always back up important files 2) Use the proper procedures to copy files 3) Buy about a dozen paddles at that paddle store for the next time I ignore lessons 1 and 2 4) I can always count MS forum users for good advice/admonishments/laughs. Thanks to all who took the time to respond.
