Taskbar freezes

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum and I have got a very strange
problem at the moment.

I cannot access my taskbar at all, it seems to be frozen all the time.
If I try to click on 'Start' or any programs located on there it
doesn't respond, not even with a right click either!

However, if I use the 'Start' button on my keyboard then the start
menu does appear.

If any of you could spare me some time to help me with this problem
that would be great.

Thanks,
Paul

I have seen Windows updates causes symptoms like this before on my
Windows 2000/XP machines. Usually the next monthly update will correct
it until the next time. Although I got tired of it all and switched to
Aston Shell and all of those problems disappeared.

What's the history of the problem? When did it start? What changes were
made to the system right before the problem occurred? Did you undo those
changes? Have you tried a system restore to before the problem surfaced?
