The combination of Ad-Aware and Spybot is more effective than using just one. I have frequently found items using Ad-Aware that Spybot did not catch, and not just cookies. -- Terry ***Reply Note*** Anti-spam measures are included in my email address. | Re: ¿WHAT CAN I DO ith adware and spyware in my PC? Terry, There is a website which lists many of the spyware... programs & that was listed of having false positives. So, that page was built up from MVP & people who really know what they are talking about. So, find that site & see for yourself. You are finding things with that product because it gives false positives. it says it have found something that doesn't exist. Whoopie!! It finds tracking cookies (doubleclick.net...) which don't really matter anyway. Get your facts straight Terry please If you knew how to use Spybot properly then you'd clean a lot more than you would if you use a standard scan with it. I am so fed up of talking people through cleaning their system that I may write a page that shows how to do it properly Besides all this: some adware application are just fronts to install adware on the machine too -- Newbie Coder (It's just a name) "Terry" <F1ComNOSPAM@pobox.com> wrote in message news:%23yQiLsegHHA.4032@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > On 4/18/2007 11:27 AM On a whim, Newbie Coder pounded out on the keyboard > > > Sandramile, > > > > Forget the Lavasoft app that gives out false positives > > > > Spybot (awesome & totally FREE): > > > > http://www.spybot.info/en/mirrors/index.html > > > > If you cannot update via the update facility then download them diectly from > > here: > > > > Detection Updates (18th April): > > > > http://www.spybotupdates.com/updates...d_includes.exe > > > > Tools Update (12th Jan): > > > > http://www.spybotupdates.com/updates...otsd_tools.exe > > > > Advanced Check Library (19th Jan): > > > > http://www.spybotupdates.com/updates...d_advcheck.exe > > > > Now, scan your machine & delete all that are red > > > > The chances are you have some rogue processes but will need to know which > > are running in order to find out if they are suspicious > > > > Newbie, > > Rather than bad mouth a good product (with only your opinion), it is > always advisable to use more than one program when removing > adware/malware. POWERFUL thing to do over the internet. I doubt you talk that strongly in front of people, they probably would pop you up side the head. If you were half a support person, you'd provide the links to back up your statements. Telling me to find it is, well, weak at best. And stating that "it was made by an MVP". WoW. I don't need anyone to tell me how a program works. You again didn't read my post, because I specifically stated NOT cookies. I have my facts straight newbie. Please interpret a little better. ANYONE knows that you should use more than one program when cleaning a system. If you only use Spybot, you're missing things. I've been using Spybot since it came out, and have been quite aware of it's shortcomings. I even contributed to it. How about you? Are you going to try an enlighten me on how to use it? Don't waste your time. If you're so "fed up of talking people through cleaning their system", why are you here? Don't get all pissy because someone calls you on the carpet when you make an error. Be an adult and move on. I don't think it is possible for him to be an adult, 'cause he isn't one. His maturity level appears to be stuck at age14, if that. He demonstrated his total ignorance and lack of credibility when he attacked Malke a week or so ago. Hers is probably the site he can't remember the link to. |

| Re: ¿WHAT CAN I DO ith adware and spyware in my PC? Terry, Yes, I beta test for Spybot (since 1.2) & have also contributed to it too with translation or new definitions or bugs found, but one thing that lets Spybot down is its support staff because they sometimes take 3 weeks to answer any message to them Another thing I have done is create a number of applications to work with Spybot which aid its use One bug still not fixed in the application is it doesn't get rid of all strains of C2.LOP Look. I am extremely busy until later & don't have time now to finish this reply but in around 10 hours time I will See you -- Newbie Coder (It's just a name) "Terry" <F1ComNOSPAM@pobox.com> wrote in message news:ev1knFggHHA.4980@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > On 4/18/2007 12:07 PM On a whim, Newbie Coder pounded out on the keyboard > > > Terry, > > > > There is a website which lists many of the spyware... programs & that was > > listed of having false positives.
