| Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 2 (KB 921896) Everytime an update is due, I get notice that this Service Pack needs to be installed. But when it attempts to install, this one always fails. Anyone have any ideas what I can do to get this installed properly? I have XP SP2 on a 2.8 dual core with 3GM mem. One other thing, I have an icon in the area next to the clock that is the Microsoft SQL Server Service Manager. I have no idea why it is there or what it does. It was there when I got this machine. When I mouse over that icon it says it is Stopped. Is this related to the update problem? Previously I tried exiting this Service manger then trying to do the update but that fails too. Maybe I should uninstall the service manager, reinstall, then try the update? Please let me know if you have any comments about any of this. Thank, Tony |

Did you install the Outlook Business Contacts Manager? This is the most common case for end users to see SQL Manager running in the system tray. If you don't use the Business Contacts Manager (and I don't know anyone who does), then go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall it. Doing this will not uninstall your main Outlook program. After you have uninstalled the Contacts Manager, go back to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the SQL bit. If this isn't your situation, then you need to find out what you installed that needs SQL.
