| installing XP on an external 2.5" HD... Sorta related to this thread about the Portege 3500: http://www.tabletquestions.com/showthread.php?t=1209 I own a 2.5" External hard drive (hdd + USB2 enclosure). The 3500 doesn't come with an external optical drive and needs a specific one to let it boot (apparently)... But would it be possible to just take out the HD from the laptop, stick it into my external HD enclosure, and install WinXP Tablet using my regular Desktop PC? Or would it crash? I would imagine it to be significantly easier than having to go through the ordeal of actually taking the time (and the money) to buy an external optical drive just to let it boot from the CD... Thanks :) |
