| Toolbar customizations won't save in Office (Word) 2003 I can add a button to any of the toolbars in Word, but the change is not saved when I close Word. The next time I open Word the button is not there. The user is a local admin so there should be no rights issues. I have tried specifically saving the changes to the normal.dot file but to no avail. This works fine in Word 2003 running under WindowsXP Pro, but I cannot get it to save the added toolbar button under Tablet XP. I have tried it on two different tablets and no luck. Has anyone run into this? |

| Re: Toolbar customizations won't save in Office (Word) 2003 When I was running Office 2003, I had no issues with customizing the toolbars. Are you running any plug-ins for the Office products on your Tablet PC? Have you tried doing a "Repair" of the Office install (Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs then select Repair in the Options)? -- Chris H. | Re: Toolbar customizations won't save in Office (Word) 2003 Chris H, thanks for your quick reply. No, I am not running any plug-ins. I have tried a repair install and have also completely uninstalled then reinstalled Office 2003 and Office 2003 Service Pack 2 (I did this on 2 different tablets). The problem persists. We can live with this if we have to, but it's frustrating that it won't work under Tablet XP but will work under XP Pro. | Re: Toolbar customizations won't save in Office (Word) 2003 Sorry, I don't have an explanation (or solution). I really don't understand what is happening because there should be absolutely nothing different (except Ink) between a desktop XP SP2 installation of Office 2003 and the installation on a Tablet PC with XP SP2 and the Tablet PC Edition 2005. I have mine set up exactly the same way on my Tablets as I do on my desktops, and honestly have never seen the problem. I might suggest you post your information to the microsoft.public.office.setup newsgroup with the details of what you're attempting to do so the Office MVPs who support the products can have a shot at it. A lot of the Office MVPs run Tablet PCs, and I've never seen them mention anything about your issue. -- Chris H. We are both running WXP Pro, so it is not tablet-PC specific. |

| RE: Toolbar customizations won't save in Office (Word) 2003 lI also have the same issue. I am running Office 2003 on a Gateway CX200. There is no way I am able to get a change in the default pen (Ink Drawing and Writing) to save with the document or normal.dot. I have posted on the word discussion group with no replies. There has to be a Microsoft problem here. "Suvarov" wrote: > I can add a button to any of the toolbars in Word, but the change is not > saved when I close Word. | RE: Toolbar customizations won't save in Office (Word) 2003 Me too! I bought a new computer, average and up-to-date late December 2006. I have the exact same Word 2003 on my Laptop, another Desk PC and yet another PC at work. They all work fine when I adjust the icons in the tool bars in Word. But not my new computer! Any one found a solution to this problem yet? Thanks Mark "Suvarov" wrote: > I can add a button to any of the toolbars in Word, but the change is not > saved when I close Word.
