Toshiba M205 video display problem

My nephew has a Toshiba M205 Tablet PC. It has 512 M of memory and a
replacement 100 G Toshiba hd. When going into the BIOS or when the laptop is
booting up, the words displayed on the screen is garbled (i.e. mispelled).
I've switched around his two so-dimms with no changes in the display.

I've used his restore disc and had no luck restoring his system. The restore
will finish, but when the system reboots, the computer will go through the
intro screen and then go blank. I restored his computer to XP Pro to keep it
running. While in Windows XP, everything works and displays correctly. If I
go into the BIOS, all the settings are mispelled.

Has anyone run into this kind of problem?

Re: Toshiba M205 video display problem

Has anyone updated the BIOS on the system? There are several updates on
those earlier models available on the Toshiba web site. I would suggest
giving Toshiba support a call on their toll-free line and ask them.

Re: Toshiba M205 video display problem

The Bios and video driver were both updated from the Toshiba website. Guess
I'll have to call Support.

Thanks,

Re: Toshiba M205 video display problem

It sounds like a botched BIOS update, which is why I suggested calling
Toshiba support. They can work with you through the issue "live."
