| Re: Motion LE1600 I have one. I don't know if that particular model is current on the latest processor technology, but at the time I got it which was over a year ago, it was the sports car of Tablet PC's. It's incredibly sleek, the VA display is unmatched, and it's a really nice portable machine. But... it's a slate. So if you've never used a Tablet PC before, I'll tell you what I tell everyone - Don't start with a slate. If you wind up not liking the lack of a keyboard, it could give you a bad impression of tablets in general. The "convertible" keyboard on the Motion is really bad and fragile. But if you've used tablets before and you want a light tablet that's got a great digitizer, display, battery life, and integrated Bluetooth/Wifi/Fingerprint - then it's the way to go. -- Josh Einstein / Tablet PC MVP Einstein Technologies, LLC ----------------------------------------------------- Tablet Enhancements for Outlook 3.0 Now Available Unleash the potential of Outlook on your Tablet PC, Origami, or UMPC. | Re: Motion LE1600 What is a slate? I'm guessing locked into not using a keyboard. So, there's a learning curve?? Josh Einstein wrote: > I have one. | Re: Motion LE1600 DQ shared these words of wisdom: > What is a slate? I'm guessing locked into not using a keyboard. "Slate" is the name for the TablePCs without a keyboard, just the plain tablet. "Concertibles" have a keyboard and can be used as normal notebooks (notebook made) and turning around the display and clapping onto the keyboard and locking it is the "slate mode". There also were "hybrid" models like the COMPAQ tc1000 /HP tc1100 which had a detachable keyboard. What one buys depends on what one wants to do. In many enviroments the thinner lightweight slate is the optimum (doctors in hospitals, f.e., people taking notes in meetings or working with presentations over a projector). Those who want to write a lot will be better off having the possibility to use the keyboard for typing. On just has to carfully think on the needs. Rainald |

In this way almost all slate machines are hybrids, if the need so arises. Bluetooth keyboards by Think outside and others literally can literally fold up and fit in your pocket when needed, leaving you with a smaller slate to carry as compared to a convertible. It comes down to a matter of taste and projected use. For personal use I really like a slate computer. |
