Hello,

I've got a Gateway tablet M275 running XP Tablet PC Edition w/ SP2 and
..Net 1.1 and 2.0.
Every time we start tabtip or try and calibrate the pen, we get the
error:

I've gone through old posts from ChrisH during 04 and 05, but have not
been able to get it to work. The language settings are correct. Running

This problem plagued me for a couple of weeks, and I finally whipped
it tonight. Embarrassingly enough, because I use ritePen, I didn't
know I had a problem until I was demonstrating my tablet to an
internal customer whose boss was interested in buying a TPC. All that
preparation, and yet the simplest, most basic thing...er, but I
digress.

A search shows that Chris H. has tried to help with this several times
in the past. Those suggestions might be of use.

None of that stuff worked for me. Instead, I browsed to the last
backup image I had made (in December 2005; I am such a slacker) and
attempted to restore the entire C:\Program Files\Common
Files\Microsoft Shared\Ink folder (after killing the tabtip and
tcserver processes in Task Manager). I wasn't allowed to overwrite
many of the files, but it was enough. When I hit the TIP button in my
taskbar, I saw my Tablet Input Panel for the first time in weeks!

Ejected from the game: System File Protection, for illegal
re-breaking.

After SFP was done with my tablet, the Input Panel still came out to
play, but the correction text didn't show, and nothing would be
inserted. My solution is no solution for a conscientious tablet
owner, but l'm a bad tech, so I'm doing ok. Maybe the good techs can
use this into to figure out a proper solution.
