Microsoft Journal Printing Problem

Printer: HP Officejet 5510 all-in-one
Microsoft Journal: ver5.1

My printer works fine for all documents except MS Journal documents on
my tablet/laptop (Toshibah Tecra). I have run through the tech support
at HP and they say that it is a MS Journal issue. Basically, when I try
to print a Journal document, it starts up fine, but it hangs up about a
quarter of the way through. The printer displays "printing" but nothing
happens. I check the print que and says "printing" as well. I am not
sure what to do! There are no updates available for anything and
everyone is pointing fingers.

Does anyone have suggestions?

RE: Microsoft Journal Printing Problem

Try this if you haven't already...

1. Delete Journal Note Writer from your printers list
2. Click Start/Run and type in cmd and press OK
3. switch to the following folder, c:\Program Files\Windows Journal
4. Type the following line and then press enter: journal.exe
/repairnotewriter

Then see if you can print to a Journal Note. I referenced Article ID:
824385 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. I've use this before for similar
issues and it works.

Good luck!

RE: Microsoft Journal Printing Problem

Sorry, I just re-read your post and you are trying to print a hard copy
Journal Note onto an HP printer. Mine was for printing anything to a Journal
Note format. Ignore below.

As for your issue, I'd almost bet money that HP is where your problem lies.
Try updating the drivers for the printer/all-in-one and see if that resolves
the issue. The next thing to try is to delete the spooler settings for the
printer in question. This is NOT an easy thing to write up. If step one
doesn't work, repost and I'll try to explain this process.

One more idea would be to install the Journal Note Reader software and see
if this is more printer friendly. It's available on the MS website.
