Educational Pack and Experience Pack

Unfortunatellly The Educational Pack as well as the Experience Pack are
available in English only.
This would be OK for me.
But furthermore they require the English OS and do not install on my german
system.

It would just be too much work to re-install the sytem with the Englsih
version and the MUI on top.
Does any of the specialists have an idea for a workaround?

Any of the insiders having an estimation if we might perhaps see these pack
nationalized?

Rainald

Re: Educational Pack and Experience Pack

The Enhancement Pack, featuring the top five most popular programs from the
two you mentioned, is available for download here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...k/default.mspx
It includes Ink Desktop, the Snipping Tool, Send to Microsoft Office OneNote
2003, Hexic Deluxe for Tablet PC and the Energy Blue Theme. It is available
for 15 regions in the world, and does not depend on the English-only Windows
XP operating system to install.

Thanks, Chris.
It's been on my machines for quite some months.
I just would like to have the other two.

The "other two" are available only for English-based operating systems.

Re: Educational Pack and Experience Pack

Rainald, I wouldn't expect to see a lot more work done on any of the XP
PowerToys.

Individually, they're unsupported, but in the Packs they are. Adding
additional languages at this point probably won't happen with the Vista
release next year.

That's what I feared :-( :-(

What do you mean by this?

As said, I would not have the need for *nationalization.
Just a way to install the English versions.

Are the differences of the OS so big that there are valis technical
reasons for blocking the usage under an non-English version of the OS?
For non-Latin character languages I would understand this. But for
German vs. English?

Re: Educational Pack and Experience Pack

Power Toys are side contributions not necessarily from Microsoft and have
not had the thorough testing a "pack" released by that company goes through
before release. Power Toys are not supported as a "program" but offered for
the users enjoyment. Packs are offered by Microsoft as add-ons to existing
programs and are supported.

As for the two packs, they're supported only on English-based installations
because no time was spent to test on all the other languages. At the time
of release, the English-based OS was the target area. Since Vista has come
along, the Tablet Team at Microsoft will not be revisiting those packs for
further development.

It was only *packs* I'd been asking about.

That's what I understood from the beginning.
But I thought that perhaps there might be some workaround to fool the
install routine and circumvent the restrictions.

Too sad ...
IMHO even MS should have understood that there some people living
outside God's own country and using the OS with a different language
....

Re: Educational Pack and Experience Pack

Rainald, search around in the Tablet PC Buzz forums. Some clever users have
figured out how to circumvent the language condition in the installer for
those packs. However, they are still in English.

Thanks, Josh!
Will do so.
There's no problem at all for me with software in English.
TEO wouldn't be interesting for me, otherwise ;-) ;-)

Re: Educational Pack and Experience Pack

One of these days, I will get around to localizing it.. I promise. :)

But I also promise I'll never block the installation for someone who is on a
non-english system. That would just be bad for business.

Thanks for the reference. Will collect it.

I do not really *need* it. And it seems that the really needed things
are in the "Enhacement Pack" too. But investigating "educational
stuff", I want to try it out.

Thanks again

Yes, it seems that I do already have the the important things as a
part of the Enhacement pack.

Thanks again for your assistance.
