| Sketching on Tablet Hi everyone, while looking for some CAD material I came across what is a new programme to me called Google SketchUp http://sketchup.google.com/ If ever a programme, free as well, was made for a Tablet user who wanted to draw things, but couldn't, this has to be one of the best. It has an excellent intuitive interface and I was drawing 3D widgets in no time, that actually were very close to what I had imagined them to be. I often find that CAD programmes were doing things I didn't have control over due to my lack of knowledge. On a "first impression basis" I would give this programme 9/10, and suggest it might be worth a test some others in this newsgroup. Its 31.8mb to download so don't tri it if you're on dial up. Cheers Phillip Simpson PS I think this would be a good programme to use to show off your tablet to non-tablet users |

| Re: Sketching on Tablet Its worth downloading some of the 3D models that can be accessed via the web. There is a brilliant Honda motorcycle that has a series of models for the engine, cooling sytem, etc. The engine is a great demo of both the software and the tablet. I'm running a Fujitsu 4010 with 1 gb of memory and it handles these 3D models with ease, and they can be quickly rotated in real time. What can you do different/easier on a Tablet PC that you can't just as easily do with a regular PC and mouse? Just because it is cool doesn't mean it shows off anything special about Tablet PCs. |
