| Error Message When Changing Screen Orientation Whenever I try to change the orientation of my tablet PC's display, I recieve the following error: "The setting you requested cannot be supported. Open Display in Control Panel, adjust the settings, and then try to change orientation again." I played around with as many of the settings (i.e. resolution, color depth, etc.) as I could, but I still got the same message each time. Computer info: Acer TravelMate C100 Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005, version 2002, SP2 Video: Silicon Motion Lynx3DM I've been searching websites for driver updates and such, but have yet to come across anything that even references this problem. Any ideas or solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

| Re: Error Message When Changing Screen Orientation Hmm. Have you tried reinstalling your display drivers? You might even want to grab whatever the latest driver is on the Acer site, boot the Tablet PC into Safe Mode and then install. This will have the system use a generic (and ugly) driver, and not the one currently installed, and allow you to overwrite the current drivers. -- Chris H. | Re: Error Message When Changing Screen Orientation Thanks, Chris, it worked after some trial and error. I went to the Acer website and downloaded a driver for the C100. When I went to install it in safe mode, I got an error message stating something about the 16-bit files used by the command prompt weren't suitable for running dos and windows programs. So, I restarted normally and used device manager to manually update the driver from a list. I had to tell it where to find a file: smiminib.sys. A quick search located it in the folder I had unzipped the driver files to after downloading. The wizard found and used the file and it seems to work fine now. "Chris H" wrote: > Hmm.
