Help needed from someone with a Tablet PC!

Hi all tablet users!

I am attempting to get Windows Vista working on a Samsung Q1 and I really
need some help trying to do the impossible.

I have almost everything working perfectly, except the lack of HID drivers
make Vista think it is not a Tablet PC. This was also an issue under XP,
but that's another story.

Anyhow, what I need from you is the contents of the following reg keys on
your tablet PC's:

\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Tabl etPC

This may only exist under Vista, but either way, I'm very keen to find out
what it has under this reg key on a machine it does consider to be a
tablet.

TIA.

John.

Re: Help needed from someone with a Tablet PC!

Good luck, John. Honestly, there have been problems with that model, and
Samsung isn't especially forthcoming with solutions. Samsung uses their own
HID setup (not Wacom or Fine Point), so you're basically at their mercy.
That said, you might sift through the information posted by Tablet PC MVP
James Kendrick
(http://jkontherun.blogs.com/jkonther...g_q1_in_t.html) who
has experimented with the Q1 from the very launch of the model.

Cheers Chris, I know the lack of HID drivers are a bit of a disaster, but
I'm convinced that getting it to recognise the Q1 as a tablet, would go a
long way to getting it even more useable.

This must be done via some kind of hardware detection, or string in the
BIOS, which surely we could "fluff" so the OS thinks it is one.

Cheers,

John.

Re: Help needed from someone with a Tablet PC!

Oh, I agree, John. But in the case of Samsung and their Q1, it is different
situation since they are writing their own HID setup. It is not the
"conventional" if that word can be used, complying system in use for all
other Tablet PC-capable mobile computers in the world from Wacom or Fine
Point. Until Samsung gets its act together, there isn't much "we" can do.

Re: Help needed from someone with a Tablet PC!

John, I sent an e-mail off to someone who is running Vista on a Q1 and asked
him to get in touch with you. I'm not sure what he needed to do, or I'd
just report it here.
