14" Slate

I checked around on thetabletpc.net, and I could not find one.

So, I ask. Are there any 14" slates out there?

I have an older Acer (100 series), and thought it would be nice to upgrade.
I would love the large screen, but I don't need it to be convertible
anymore. In fact, lighter weight is more important. I'd rather stay at 10.4",
and drop a pound, rather than double up to 6 lbs just for screen size.

Thanks,
Michael

Re: 14" Slate

Not yet, misfut. I don't know if a 14" slate is in the near future at all.
If people are carrying around a slate for notes, then they don't want the
weight. Seems the current trend is to go smaller, like the Motion LS800.

I primarily use a Motion 12" slate, and it's a perfect size for me. It's
about the same size as a piece of notebook paper. There's a big difference
is screen real estate compared to the 10.4" models. (I also have an Acer
C100).

Re: 14" Slate

I originally wanted a C300 series Acer, but then a friend picked up the
comparable Toshiba. The weight is too much. I also never use the keyboard or
CD-ROM anymore. I have been looking at the Motion 12's, but I've had no
opportunity to use one.

Looks like I'll end up with one of the new, what is it, LE1600 Motions.

Thanks for the help,
Michael

Re: 14" Slate

I think it's a great Tablet for what you want, misfut. I have a review of
the LE1600 on my site if you haven't seen it already.

If you'll be using it in any different lights, including bright indoor
lights or outside, I highly recommend adding the View Anywhere option. I
use mine as a GPS in the car. Even when the sun is shining directly on it,
I can see the screen.

Re: 14" Slate

I read the review you had written. And, much like every other review of a
Motion, the LE1600 seems like the perfect Tablet. I just wish I could play
with one. I've used Acer, HP/Compaq and Toshiba, and each one has its own
little quirks. Would be nice to feel those quirks out.

View Anywhere is a must!

I've found myself trying to use the machine in sunlight far more often than
using the keyboard or CD-ROM.

It's just the approaching $3,000 that causes concern. Once you step up CPU,
HDD, Wi-Fi & Screen, it isn't cheap. Maybe I just need to talk them into
giving mea freebie for all the great word-of-mouth I would give them. :)

Not sure which country you're in, but if in the US, you can get a unit on
review from Allegiance (or you could).

Re: 14" Slate

That would cover figuring out the quirks.

I'm in Louisiana. So, when it gets closer, seems like I found where I'm
shopping.

Thanks,
Michael
