Fujitsu LPT 600

Hi,
is anyone running XP tablet on their LPT600 as oppossed to just
running XP?

Trying to find what I'm missing by just running XP, as it is very hard
to get a copy of XP tablet in Australia, unless it came with the
original hardware.

Cheers

Phillip

Re: Fujitsu LPT 600

The Tablet PC Edition superset is available only on OEM computers or for
programming/development use via an MSDN subscription. True Tablet PCs run
hardware within requirements as specified by Microsoft. Those requirements
include a digital recognizer behind the screen for digital Ink.

Re: Fujitsu LPT 600

Hi Chris,
thanks for your quick reply. Is there are way to find out if a
tablet meets the hardware requirements set by Microsoft?

Do you have any idea as to what I would be missing by simply staying
with XP Pro as oppossed to the tablet version?

Cheers

Phillip

Re: Fujitsu LPT 600

If it wasn't manufactured as a Tablet PC in the first place, I doubt if it
has the qualifying hardware. The point is moot, however, because you cannot
obtain the software (Windows XP Pro with the Tablet PC Edition superset)
without having an MSDN subscription.

The hardware requirements are here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/mobility/tabletpc/hardware/ What are you missing?
I am not familiar with the LPT 600, but I would say you're missing the
ability to use the pen and do digital Ink, for one. 8-) The built-in
recognizer is not on your system, so you probably could not convert Ink to
text. If you want additional information about what Tablet PCs do, you
might want to check here and follow the various links:
