| Best Tablet PC for Classroom Note Taking, Studying, etc. Can anyone recommend a Tablet PC(s) that will meet the needs of a student who will need to take notes all day, study from it, and use the Tablet PC as a complete replacement to the conventional binder? |

| Re: Best Tablet PC for Classroom Note Taking, Studying, etc. I see this model does not have a keyboard. Is it necessary to have a keyboard in a classroom environment? When taking notes in classes that don't require any symbols or illustrations, typing on a keyboard is more efficient for notetaking. |

| Re: Best Tablet PC for Classroom Note Taking, Studying, etc. If you know you want a keyboard for your primary use of the machine, wouldn't you be better off just buying a laptop? mack austin "dazizl" <davidlevi******.com> wrote in message news:1122219137.627546.183930@f14g2000cwb.googlegr oups.com... >I see this model does not have a keyboard. | Re: Best Tablet PC for Classroom Note Taking, Studying, etc. You may want to take a look at Tablet PC MVP Terri Stratton's comparison charts on all the Tablets - convertible, slate and hybrid: www.thetabletpc.net . I have a feeling you may already have looked through them. 8-) My own opinion is the best Tablet PC for you is the one which suits your particular usage. You should be able to expand the RAM if you want. If you're working both in multiple locations with different lighting, you may want to look into a screen upgrade available with a Motion or Fujitsu. Even if your choice is a slate, investigate the detachable keyboards available or determine if a wireless keyboard/mouse setup would work for you. Ultimately, a Tablet PC becomes much more personal to the user than a laptop or desktop. You use it held in your hand, crook of the elbow, or propped up against your knee. It is more like a friendly paperback book than a hard-bound version. -- Chris H. | Re: Best Tablet PC for Classroom Note Taking, Studying, etc. You see, best is a matter of opinion. You apparently already have an opinion about the unit having to have a keyboard. Since most all tablet PCs have the same basic capabilities, and can be augmented similarly, nicer pens, different software (OneNote for example), maybe you should focus on the form factor that seems to be right for you. Do you want a pure tablet, or convertible (with keyboard), is integral optical media important, how do you feel about size and weight? -- Sven MVP - Mobile Devices "dazizl" <davidlevi******.com> wrote in message news:1122219137.627546.183930@f14g2000cwb.googlegr oups.com... >I see this model does not have a keyboard. | Re: Best Tablet PC for Classroom Note Taking, Studying, etc. There is an attachable keyboard that doubles as a protective cover for the screen. | Re: Best Tablet PC for Classroom Note Taking, Studying, etc. If you want a keyboard you can buy a convertible tablet. If not, a slate. Trade-offs are size and weight. mack austin "dazizl" <davidlevi******.com> wrote in message news:1122227890.663021.73600@g49g2000cwa.googlegro ups.com... >I have a laptop already. | Re: Best Tablet PC for Classroom Note Taking, Studying, etc. Try to find a retailer who is willing to let you try a Tablet for one or two days and try one with an attached keyboard (Convertible) and one without (Slate). From what I know Fujitsu Siemems T4010 has over 8 hours battery life with the extra battery, should be minimum for you (see http://store.shopfujitsu.com/fpc/Eco....jsp?pclass=T4) -- Mit besten Gruessen - Best wishes Stefen Niemeyer "dazizl" <davidlevi******.com> schrieb im Newsbeitrag news:1122227890.663021.73600@g49g2000cwa.googlegro ups.com... >I have a laptop already. | Re: Best Tablet PC for Classroom Note Taking, Studying, etc. Try the Toshiba Portege M200 or Toshiba Tecra M4. Both have keyboard, although the M200 seems to be due for a revamp soon. | Re: Best Tablet PC for Classroom Note Taking, Studying, etc. Look at an Acer C100, you can get one used for about $500 and it is very tiny. It is not as fast as the others that people are recomending (800mhz) but it is so much smaller. It is plenty fast for anything that you would want to do except for playing games. I carry it to meetings every day at work and I take all of my notes on it. It is as small as everyones pad of paper, except mine is a pc. I get about 2 hours 45 minutes of continuous use out the battery, but alot of the time it goes to sleep which makes it last much longer. Just my 2 cents, --C "dazizl" <davidlevi******.com> wrote in message news:1122186376.599697.17450@f14g2000cwb.googlegro ups.com... > Can anyone recommend a Tablet PC(s) that will meet the needs of a > student who will need to take notes all day, study from it, and use the > Tablet PC as a complete replacement to the conventional binder? > |

| Re: Best Tablet PC for Classroom Note Taking, Studying, etc. The only problem with a C100 is that the ram is locked at 256Mb. The C110 has all the same features and size, but its ram can be upgraded. -- Terri Stratton Editor / Owner http://thetabletpc.net http://themediacenterpc.net Microsoft Featured Communities Microsoft Windows MVP - Tablet PC "Ree-Yees" <r@r.com> wrote in message news:qLKdnQgYmPvXrnXfRVn-sw@comcast.com... > Look at an Acer C100, you can get one used for about $500 and it is very > tiny. | Re: Best Tablet PC for Classroom Note Taking, Studying, etc. I would go with that then, more ram would be awesome. Also, if you needed a cdrom or dvdrom on the unit then it would not be a good solution.
