All of a sudden my Tablet XP SP2 is not starting all of the Automatic
Services at startup. I can manually start all but the firewall service
after booting is complete. The firewall service is giving me an access
denied when I attempt to start the service.

Any idea what changed, Jim? Did this just start "yesterday" or last week?
Does this happen on your account and the Administrator account, too? Have
you run your anti virus software with the latest definitions on your
machine? Have you checked lately for spyware/malware/Trojans? If not, you

I did all the things regarding spyware/malware/trojans etc.

The problem started at the same time I started getting the Generic Host
Process for Win32 Services Error.

I put in the patch from article 894391 and it fixed the Generic Host Process
for Win32 Services Error but did not fix the services problem

Okay, Jim. Which services are not starting? Are you looking at them in the
System Configuration Utility (Start/msconfig/enter/Startup tab) or in
Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services?

I applied the WindowsXP-KB895953-v4-x86-ENU.exe patch and the services are
now starting OK.

That is interesting, Jim. I truly suspect something else was going on,
unless you were doing a huge amount of inking without restarting the system
at any time covering days at a time. The KB895953 is related to the "memory
leak" issue surrounding tabtip.exe and tcserver.exe, although if your
machine is running under 512 MB RAM perhaps it was attempting to protect
itself. 8-) Strange, but thanks for reporting your success!
