| Literature / Books on XP Tablet PC 2005? I just purchased my first Tablet PC - the new Toshiba Tecra M4. I'm a pretty tech savvy "user" and would like to quickly brush up on all the capabilities that this convertible has to offer. I'm pretty excited about the transition from my laptop, and all the new functionality that awaits. That said, I've been looking for any published books on the Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 - which came pre-installed on the Tecra. There are literally hundreds on standard Windows XP books floating around from Que publishing, O'Reilly, Microsoft Press, etc. But I can't find ONE, not one, specifically written about Windows XP Tablet PC. Let alone 2005. Not even from Microsoft Press. What gives? Any help? Any good books out there I'm just not finding? I was hoping not to have to learn how to use my new OS through website FAQ's, magazine articles and whitepapers... I can't believe Microsoft doesn't have any plans on publishing a user guide on their Tablet OS. Many thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction... Separately, once the Tecra M4 has shipped and I've had a chance to play with it a bit - I'll post a note on my thoughts/reviews... |

| Re: Literature / Books on XP Tablet PC 2005? Already did a quick look at both Amazon's Tablet PC list, as well as Teri Stratton's site (which is about the same as Amazon's). And again, neither have a spefic book on the Tablet PC OS. Any other thoughts? Does Microsoft have any intention of publishing a book on how to use one of it's primary OS's? Jeff van Zandt's book "Tablet PC Quick Reference" (Microsoft Press) has been available since the Tablet PC launch in 2002. A few of us on the Tablet PC team at that time helped Jeff with material for that volume. There are also Microsoft Press books on programming for the Tablet PC and on Microsoft OneNote. | Re: Literature / Books on XP Tablet PC 2005? I ran a search on amazon for Microsoft Press books with "tablet" in the title and also picked up "Laptops and Tablet PCs with Microsoft Windows XP Step by Step: Keep in Touch and Stay Productive--At Work, At Home, and On the Go! (Step By Step (Microsoft)) (Paperback)" Dec 2004. It appears to have CD tutorials for Tablet Edition 2005. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...l/-/0735621705 "Mike Williams" wrote: > > > "Sully6" wrote: > > > Already did a quick look at both Amazon's Tablet PC list, as well as Teri > > Stratton's site (which is about the same as Amazon's). | Re: Literature / Books on XP Tablet PC 2005? It seems to me both Terri's web site and those available from Microsoft through Amazon.com cover most everything. Do you have some specifics of what else you're trying to find? You might also look through some of the columns on the Expert Zone in my signature line, and I have a few tutorials on my web site. You mention the "Tablet OS" in your posts, but that is Windows XP Pro, just as you would have installed on a laptop or desktop computer. The Tablet PC Edition superset, riding on top of the XP Pro operating system, is what does the magic with the digitizers on Tablets. -- Chris H.
