Inc Crossword in Expirience pack: Unhandled exception

Hello all

I'm having a problem with the new Expirience pack from Microsoft, when
regarding the Inc Crossword app.

I use a Windows XP Tablet Edition with SP2 on my Acer 302XMI, and it is an
English operating system. The keyboard layout is Danish, so the problem
occurs when I start the Inc Crossword.

A debugger starts, asking which instance of Visual Studio I want to start,
because:
"An exception 'System.InvalidOperatingException' has occurred in
IncCrossword.exe".

I start a new instance of Visual Studio, and I select:
"Process: [2920] C:\Program Files\Microsoft Experience Pack\Ink
Crossword\InkCrossword.exe
Choose the program types that you want to debug:
-Common Language Runtime
-Native

The following programs will be debugged:
-IncCrossword.exe
-Native"

Then finally it reports the error:
"An unhandled exception of type 'System.InvalidOperationException' occurred
in microsoft.inc.dll
Additional information: The requested recognizer is not available with the
current setup or configuration"

So I tried changing the startup kayboard layout to English, and the programs
starts fine.

The problem is, that I don't want to have english as my startup language.
Is there someone who can help me fix this, or help me report it to
Microsoft?
Maybe tell me who to call?

Hope you can help!

Regards

Re: Inc Crossword in Expirience pack: Unhandled exception

The Experience Pack, as noted on the download web site, is for English
versions of Windows XP Pro (the operating system) only. Sorry, but you
either need to use it with English enabled, or not at all. Microsoft has
not mentioned when or if other language versions may be made available.

Re: Inc Crossword in Expirience pack: Unhandled exception

Correct, Claus, except you are not running the English keyboard. That is
what is tripping up the Ink Crossword. It all must be English, or else the
Experience Pack won't work properly.

You can have multiple keyboard layouts installed per locale, this could
solve the problem with Ink Crossword (if I remember right, that was the
way I did it with my English XP and Finnish keyboard layout - except I
got fed up with badly programmed Ink Crossword quite fast and
uninstalled it after 15 minutes or so ;-)

If you go to Control Panel, Regional and Language Options, Languages
tab, Details button, and in the Installed services list select the EN -
English (United States) you can then click on Add, check the Keyboard
layout box and in the list select United States-International.
If you then go back through all Apply's and OK's, in your Windows
Taskbar there should appear two new icons near the TIP icon. One lists
all the languages/locales (e.g. EN, and allows to select others), the
other looks like a keyboard and allows you to select between keyboard
layouts (e.g. Finnish, United Kingdom Extended, etc what you've
installed) for that particular language.
So, before you start Ink Crossword, you may use these 'icons' to
temporarily switch your keyboard layout.

Hope this helps!
cheers,
- Jan

Re: Inc Crossword in Expirience pack: Unhandled exception

In the latest public Tablet PC chat they said that they are still
considering an international Experience Pack, perhaps as part of a new (was
it called Education?) Pack
