| Re: suggestion With the right program, you should be able to read books on a desktop or laptop. You don't need to go to the expense of a Tablet PC for the single function. If you're interested in Tablet PCs for reasons other than reading books (Ink, ease of use, mobility and being able to search your own handwriting, for instance) then I would suggest you see the comparison charts on Tablet PC MVP Terri Stratton's web site: http://thetabletpc.net . -- Chris H. | Re: suggestion Hey, Chris, do you know _where_ actually he wants to read the stuff? I don't have a desktop near my sofa - nor I want to have it there ;-) Muzio, go with a Tablet with little weight and best display. If you read outside or in your car or in the bus or train, I'd say the View Anywhere option is a must for you - see http://www.motioncomputing.com/ You may want to wait one or two days more to have even more choices... -- Mit besten Gruessen - Best wishes Stefen Niemeyer "Chris H." <winxpnews********.com> schrieb im Newsbeitrag news:%23qQ0AfZgFHA.2424@TK2MSFTNGP09.phx.gbl... > With the right program, you should be able to read books on a desktop or > laptop. | Re: suggestion By the way the question was worded, it sounded like the poster believed Tablet PCs were primarily used for reading books. That's why I posted some of the other uses too. 8-) -- Chris H. | Re: suggestion The Tablet PC would be fine for you then. You may want to check out all the models available on Tablet PC MVP Terri Stratton's web site: http://thetabletpc.net . | Re: suggestion Cheapest? I won't recommend Averatec 3500 - got far too hot so that my model was unusable as a Tablet. Acer is cheapest (or used, refurbished older models, but take care that you buy it with original OEM or recovery OS CDs) but perhaps too heavy. Depends on your needs. As Motion has just come out with new models perhaps used 1300 or 1400 become cheap enough for you? -- Mit besten Gruessen - Best wishes Stefen Niemeyer "muzio" <cmuzzini********.com> schrieb im Newsbeitrag news:1120727780.812581.230620@g44g2000cwa.googlegr oups.com... > Thanks. > Do you know which is the cheapeast ? > > Tank you. > > Muzio > |

| Re: suggestion Hi, muzio, I have prices included on most models on my comparison charts at http://thetabetpc.net.comparison.htm Keep in mind that those are manufacturer's retail and you should be able to find a better price online. | Re: suggestion If you want a Tablet PC for the single use of reading books, I would check around for used or refurbished ones. But I would be extremely cautious to make sure you receive all the original repair and restore media which came from the original equipment manufacturer. A lot of Tablets are sold on places like EBay, and then people are posting in here trying to find original CD/DVD setups. That can cost you in some cases several hundred dollars IF the OEM will actually supply them to you. As for a pricing structure, you might take a look at the comparison charts on Tablet PC MVP Terri Stratton's web site - http://thetabletpc.net. Those are generally manufacturer's suggested retail prices, so use them as a guideline. -- Chris H. | Re: suggestion Don't carry them all with you at one time. 15 GB you have hundreds of books. "muzio" <cmuzzini********.com> wrote in message news:1120761857.407808.263250@g49g2000cwa.googlegr oups.com... > Yes, > but I have 15GB of e-book this is the problem. > Ciao Muzio > |

| Re: suggestion You could use the RDP (remote desktop) with WIFI on a PDA to read anything on another PC. Perhaps not as ideal as a larger screen tablet, but would function. Another option is a Smart Display, but I don't think those are cheap either.
