How can I repair or fix Windows XP Tablet on a averatech C3500 Tab

I have an averatech C3500 Tablet that didn't have any windows CD included
when I bought it. How can I reinstall or fix Windows XP Tablet on it? The so
called "tech support" at averatech have no desire to do anything except tell
me to restore the entire drive.

That sounds like the solution, Mike. I would check the documentation which
came with your computer, and read the user guide for however Averatec has
the system set up. Otherwise, what is the specific issue you're having?
Maybe that can be fixed without wiping the hard drive with a full
installation.

Re: How can I repair or fix Windows XP Tablet on a averatech C3500

Chris,
My system crashes a few times per day. The blue screen messages usually show
an error caused by WIN32K.SYS. A guy at averatech said that Stop Error
doesn't tell him anything. I can't see any pattern to software that might
cause it. Averatech told me the restore disks that I got can only be used to
restore the PC back to factory image. I don't want to do this because I have
spent days of time installing and configuring windows and other software on
this PC. The averatech support seemed very disinterested and resigned. I will
check back tomorrow.

Re: How can I repair or fix Windows XP Tablet on a averatech C3500

Mike, it really is difficult to give you an exact cause of the system
crashes, just by "win2k.sys." There are literally hundreds of possibilities
somehow related to that file. this is the result of a search of the
Microsoft Knowledge Base:
http://support.microsoft.com/search/...de=a&x=11&y=10
If you have anything further on the error message, or can pinpoint something
in the Event Viewer (Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Event
Viewer/Application and System in the left pane) listing of an error message,
it would be really helpful. Otherwise, I would suggest you back up what you
can of the personal files and follow the suggestion of Averatec's tech
department.

RE: How can I repair or fix Windows XP Tablet on a averatech C3500 Tab

I would recommend that you create your own Tablet PC CDs from this article
found at:

http://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/forum/to...TOPIC_ID=11882

I did it before and I've tested it on my system. Best solution for a fresh
Tablet PC install without the other stuff you don't want/need!
