Is it possible to install Windows 2003 Standard Server on a Tablet PC?

Is there anyboby has tried to install Windows 2003 Standard Server on a
Tablet PC? Is it possible to use Windows 2003 Standard Server plus necessary
tablet drivers and utilities to build a Windows 2003 Tablet PC?

No, Victor, you can't do that. Rephrase the answer: You can install
Windows 2003 Standard Server on a Tablet PC (separate partition or VPC), but
you cannot create a "Tablet PC" version of Windows 2003. It only installs
with the proper PID from the OEM CD/DVD setup, giving you Windows XP Pro
with the Tablet PC Edition.

It's better to use VMware or Virtual PC to install another OS for
development purpose.

I'd say that's a feature request for Longhorn ;)

Re: Is it possible to install Windows 2003 Standard Server on a Tablet PC?

I'm a little late to this (by over 2 years it seems!) but thought id put in my 2 cents since this comes top in this particular google....

Installed Win 2003 R2 Ent edition w/SP2 on an old Acer C110 (just about the earliest centrino tablet if your wondering). decided not to accept that win2003 doesnt support tablet features.

by default, no tablet functionality - of course. did a bit of checking, turns out the digitizer is made by Wacom and apparently this is quite a standard model for most tablets - drivers for it here: Tablet PC - Software
select tablet PC, Win XP (works fine with 2003)

As mentioned in other posts, some apps require tablet APIs that just arent in 2003 (perhaps someone can be bothered to track down the relavent DLLs), some just require a working digitizer or touchscreen. oh, and obviously theres no on-screen-keyboard in 2003 - exceptfor the one conveniently provided in the accesibility features (CTRL-U).

Hope this helps the handfull of us that feel the need to push the specs!

Phil
