Ink Differences for Windows Journal and Office OneNote

For some people who don't see a difference in both programs, here are some
of the differences just for ink...

Windows Journal captures ink in much higher fidelity than OneNote, which
means when curves are drawn in Windows Journal, ink looks smooth and
accurate, whereas Office OneNote looks slightly jagged or
distorted, especially when ink is drawn quickly

- Windows Journal supports the entire Windows color palette (16.7 milllion
colors) for ink, whereas Office OneNote only supports 40 preselected colors

- Windows Journal uses canvas box resizing (resizing in eight directions)
for ink, whereas Office OneNote uses font size resizing for ink

- Windows Journal allows ink to be bolded and italiced, which don't work in
Office OneNote

As you can see, Windows Journal is much more suited for drawing sketches and
document annotating where ink quality and manipulation is of higher
priority; however, like others have said in the newsgroup, they are designed
with different scenarios in mind...

- Windows Journal has a paper stack structure, much like Office Word
documents, and includes unique features such as full-screen, multi-page, and
reading layout views, accessibility high contrast mode on notes, and even
the ability to convert ink into perfect shapes and straight lines

- Office OneNote organizes notes in folders, sections, and page notes, and
contains advanced features such as bullets and numbering, audio and video
note recording, customizable note flags, Office Outlook integration (which
was taken away from Windows Journal to promote Office OneNote), screen
clipping, and collaboration tools

Finally, both programs can share their note files to non-Tablet PC users...

- Office OneNote files (.one) must require Office OneNote (trial version
would suffice) to be viewed

- Windows Journal files (.jnt) require Windows Journal Viewer (permanent
use) to be viewed
