| New tablet purchase... need ideas! My dad isn't activly looking for a tablet, but his inquisitive mind is thinking about getting one. He see great potential in his line of work. But he's looking for one that has a high resolution screen, and has the ability to dock with a keyboard attachment. He really likes that idea, pop off the screen, and walk around with your tablet. Pop it back onto the keyboard and youve got a laptop. I've been looking, but i don't know what's good anymore.... and what if anything in words of what would be required for longhorn when it comes out next year... so at least the tablet he's getting is in the front of the curve for computer requirements. If you get my drift. Of course he's going to need the ability to view the screen anywhere... outside mobility is a necesity... and a long battery life would be prefered, but with power saving i'm sure my dad can be able to keep a small battery working long. if any one may have some ideas or any tips about what brands and models to look for. i'd really appreciate it. THANKS! -JAmes |

| Re: New tablet purchase... need ideas! Sounds like the HP TC1100 would fit what he is looking for. The president of my company and our partner relations director uses the HP and are happy with it. We have myself and two others with the Toshiba M200's and 2 with the 14" Acers and 2 sales guys with Averatec tablets. -- Jeffery W. | Re: New tablet purchase... need ideas! Your research would need to shift into gear. 8-) Tablet MVP Terri Stratton has a fine comparison chart on her web site - http://thetabletpc.net - with links in the charts to the various OEM web sites where you can obtain direct information. I would look into the Motion M1400 with the View Anywhere option (note I said OPTION). It really is a fine machine, and you can see details about the screen here: http://www.motioncomputing.com/resou...ereDisplay.pdf It really is head and shoulders above other screens. -- Chris H. | Re: New tablet purchase... need ideas! Not only does it fit the view anywhere screen requirement but it is a thin lightweight slate style tablet with an optional docking station and thin keyboard cover that turns it into quite a nice laptop. I keep a small 12 volt inverter in my car to charge the battery while I drive. I get over 3 hours of battery time so one charge while I drive gives me a whole days work on the battery while I am mobile. I also use an aircard so I have web access anywhere I get cell phone reception. What a great productivity tool!
