Re: windows xp tablet 2005 logon screen

The input panel is put there for use when you have a password. You can tap
and hold about the top 1/4 inch (or more) of the panel and drag it downward
about two inches. It should anchor in the new position the next time you
boot. If you were to use a Regedit and eliminate the panel, you'd be
totally out of luck if you needed to access the Administrator account in an
emergency.

Well how do you turn it off? I have a hybrid with a keyboard that I can use
in that emergency. :-)

Re: windows xp tablet 2005 logon screen

It takes editing the Registry, but since I don't recommend it, I haven't
kept the information. I think it was posted several months ago in this
newsgroup. What's so wrong with just moving the on-screen keyboard out of
the way? It really will anchor where you place it.

I can confirm that it anchors nicely at the bottom of the screen after being
moved. I, too, have a convertible and the keypad isn't a problem for me at all.
In my case, the Averatec power button is not visible if the screen is flipped
around, but if I am in tablet mode and lock the system (Win-L) having that on
screen keyboard is mighty handy. I wouldn't recommend turning it off either.

Re: windows xp tablet 2005 logon screen

Sigh...
"I try to get out, but they pull me back in!"
Against Chris' advice...
To remove the TIP from the logon.

This is a Registry Tweak
I DO NOT TAKE RESPONCIBILITY FOR YOUR NEGLIGENCE!
BACK UP YOUR REGISTRY!!!

Start > Run > "Regedit" > OK
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\TabletTip\Lo ginKeyboard\{69BEE631-7339-4dca-96EF-<HEX>}
Remove the key or edit it... and the keyboard will be gone.
