I'm not Chris ;) and not at WinHEC either, but: http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/winhec_2005.asp with pics of the MS-envisioned new Acer(?) Tablet PC which IIRC was posted earlier here already, that is: http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/winhec2005_tpc.asp New tablet products are more likely to be announced in consumer rather than hardware engineer events, e.g. CeBIT. cheers, - Jan |

So far, the big push has been 64-bit, Longhorn and the small concept Tablet Bill Gates introduced. If you want to check out the rumored IBM ThinkPad X41 Tablet PC, take a look at the FCC pictures on Tablet PC MVP James Kendrick's web site: http://jkontherun.blogs.com/jkontherun/ -- Chris H. | Re: Chris H: Any Reports from the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference? No new Tablet announcements other than some prototypes that may or may not materialize. There were some informative sessions on natural input for use in Longhorn with upcoming hardware technology. I've posted some pics at http://thetabletpc.net/events.htm The big news is that Longhorn will enable touch and pen input so expect to see hardware that will use both. The digitizer is layered on top. That should lower production costs. I got to look at this up close and it's really a great innovation. If I'd only heard it, I probably wouldn't have liked the idea at all since some earlier models who tried to do it didn't quite meet expectations. The widget that's used to enable touch only shows up when you get close to the screen without the pen. Using the pen will let the Tablet know not to enable touch so there's no problem resting your hand on the screen when using ink. There should be some additional details on Tablets and input after a session tomorrow. Stay tuned.
