Emergency Department (ED) using Fujitsu Stylistic w/ Handwriting For years we have been holding off on upgrading the ED Provider (i.e. Residents, Attendings) Stylistics from XP SP1 to XP SP2 because of the loss of Write Anywhere. The clinical documentation system that's used is a 'point and click' type of application. The provider selects a template (based on a chief complaint) and they circle items based on the patient's history and current condition. If further elaboration is needed, the provider uses the Write Anywhere setting to literally 'write anywhere' and the documentation is inserted into the note. Since XP SP2 doesn't support this functionality the workflow for the providers would have to change. This poses an issue when caring for a multitude of critcal patients. The TIP window changes the size of the application window which actually disrupts the display of information. We can't stay on SP1 forever...we've been on it too long already. Has anyone found a comparable option out there? Is Microsoft re-thinking this?

Re: Emergency Department (ED) using Fujitsu Stylistic w/ Handwriting >> Is Microsoft re-thinking this? << Microsoft has never been active in this forum nor responsive to any problems posted here. In light of your mission, recommend that you consider contacting microsoft directly through another connection such as getting your legal department to query them via certified mail as you are unlikely to get any helpful response from them here. Sorry that I don't have better information for you. Beverly Howard

RE: Emergency Department (ED) using Fujitsu Stylistic w/ Handwriting I was extremely disappointed with the TIP program as well, Write Anywhere on Pocket PC's worked like a charm, and after expecting more writing space on a tablet I ended up with less. I genuinely don't know why you'd then restrict the user to writing in a tiny 2x4" bubble that then expands to obscure what's beneath it as you go. This is the first I've heard of SP1 having Write Anywhere, so i might look into rolling back. Previously I've tried RitePen, which is a 3rd party application that allows write anywhere as well as customisable gestures, but it didn't work very well for me. I don't know if that's because i have a passive digitiser though, it seems to get good reviews. Good luck, please post back if you have any success, and if you do contact Microsoft and are looking for support for a petition to reimplement it or something, I'd certainly contribute. In fact if you did something like that and posted a link to something here, I'd expect the majority of users would like to see that feature back.
