Re: IBM Tablet PC?

8-) Actually, I think what we want is solid confirmation from IBM or
Microsoft, and I'm hedging my egg basket that it'll come at WinHEC, April
25-27. Rumors are around all over the place, and have been for months.

Re: IBM Tablet PC?

I have learned that the IBM Tablet PC has been seen under a
non-disclosure agreement; however no details can be given, other than it
has a 12" screen.

And now you're committed to mowing the lawn every Saturday and taking out

Re: IBM Tablet PC?

Only if I am permitted to get one!

Seriously, the two models in contention for me are the HP tc4200 and the
Toshiba M205. The IBM may provide another alternative, making the
selection more difficult. In the end, however, choice is a good thing.

Re: IBM Tablet PC?

I agree about choices. I take it you're mainly interested in a convertible
instead of a straight slate model? If that's still up in the air, you might
want to also look at the Motion M1400 with the View Anywhere screen. If
you're thinking you might be using your Tablet PC outdoors, I would
definitely look into their screen. Tablet PC MVP Terri Stratton has very
good comparison charts on her web site: http://thetabletpc.net .

Re: IBM Tablet PC?

I go back and forth about a slate model. If I went with a slate, it
would be the M1400. It's roughly 25% more than the M205/tc4200/IBM?,
which puts it at a real disadvantage. If my wife is given use of the
IBM, I may well go with the Motion!

8-) Decisions, decisions. Hopefully, in a week or so, WinHEC will give us
a glimpse of some new alternatives. And confuse the issue even further.

Re: IBM Tablet PC?

My other concern is with the 1.1GHz Centrino processor. Getting the
900MHz Celeron processor doesn't make any sense.

Re: IBM Tablet PC?

Things may change, Frank. But I'll tell you the Centrino (Pentium M) chips
rate a lot higher than "1.1" or "1.5" designation. I can't put my fingers
on the stats right now, but the M200's 1.5 rates right with a Pentium 4 in
the 2.4-2.6 range. I've got a Toshiba M200 with a gig of RAM, and it does
pretty much fly.
