| Press and Hold does not work I cannot right-click on my Viewsonic tablet pc. I press and hold and nothing happens. "Enable press and hold for right-click" is checked. What else can it be? Thanks -Stan |

| Re: Press and Hold does not work The "press and hold" is referring to holding the tip of the pen on the surface of the screen, resulting in a little circle of reddish dots. When you slightly pick up the pen from the surface (very minor distance) the right-click menu will appear. The pen button actions are controlled by settings in Control Panel/Tablet and Pen Settings/Pen Options tab. You need to make sure in the Pen Buttons area there is a check mark in "Use pen button to right-click." -- http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...ts/nichol.mspx In memory of a true friend, Windows MVP Alex Nichol Chris H. | Re: Press and Hold does not work Are you using the pen which came with your Viewsonic? What current drivers are you running? If you don't have the 4.82.9a Penabled driver from Wacom (http://www.wacom.com/tabletpc/driver.cfm) installed I would suggest downloading and installing it. The pen must be kept within about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch from the surface of the screen for the digital recognizers to pick up the positioning. -- http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...ts/nichol.mspx In memory of a true friend, Windows MVP Alex Nichol Chris H. | Re: Press and Hold does not work I use the pen that came with the pc (Viewsonic). It is a plasic pen that sits in the pc's pocket. I can click or double click with the pen but I cannot do right mouse click (press and hold). I have never used the TabletPc before, but according to what I have read, when the pen moves just above the surface of the screen, the mouse pointer should move as well. It does not happen. Maybe this is why my Press and Hold does not work... I checked Pen Settings/Pen Options tab a thousand times. I use Windows XP Tablet Edition SP2. I have no idea why such a basic function does not work. Is it a hardware / screen problem? How can I test it? | Re: Press and Hold does not work Stan, it is not a "click and hold" but a "press and hold" motion with the tip of the pen on the surface of the screen and does not involve the button or toggle on the pen at all. Holding the pen steady and not moving on the surface for about three seconds should reveal the "sort of" red dots which form a circle. When that happens, you pull the pen tip up perhaps a 1/4 of an inch and the right-click menu will appear. Which driver do you have installed for the pen? If you have not downloaded and installed the 4.82.-9a Wacom Penabled driver, I would suggest doing that. -- http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...ts/nichol.mspx In memory of a true friend, Windows MVP Alex Nichol Chris H. | Re: Press and Hold does not work Okay. Sometimes the drivers get messed up if you've upgraded to XP SP2, and need to be reinstalled. There is also an option in Control Panel/Tablet and Pen Settings/Pen Options tab for "Use pen button to right-click." I don't use it for the right-click menu, just holding my pen on the screen, but you can invoke that action by putting a check mark in the box. -- http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...ts/nichol.mspx In memory of a true friend, Windows MVP Alex Nichol Chris H. | Re: Press and Hold does not work ViewSonic support people explained the problem. I have ViewSonic ViewPad 1000 Tablet PC with the touch screen and not a digitized screen. | Re: Press and Hold does not work Good for you, Stan, however we don't support that type of installation here. The behaviors are not the same between what you've created and the OEM machines of users here. You would need to use the support section wherever you obtained the Tablet PC Edition software. If it was from an MSDN subscription, then you already know the EULA limitations of the usage. -- http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...ts/nichol.mspx In memory of a true friend, Windows MVP Alex Nichol Chris H.
