Where to buy Motion M1400

I apologize if this is a duplicate, I can't find my original
post.

I'm pretty much sold on the M1400 and am now shopping for
the best place to buy it. Of course I want the cheapest
price but they still must be an authorized reseller and
provide reasonable service.

My shopping list:

- Motion M1400
- View Anywhere screen
- 256Mb memory
- I'll upgrade with Crucial 512Mb stick
- 60 Mb hard drive
- Intel Pro Wireless 802.11b/g
- Motion Pak
- No external keyboard
- No external drive
- Executive Portfolio

www.motioncomputing.com price is $2,580.96. Any ideas to
beat it?

Thanks! Daniel

Re: Where to buy Motion M1400

You might check using www.froogle.google.com, www.pricegrabber.com,
www.infocater.com or www.pricetool.com. There are a lot of sources via the
Internet.

Re: Where to buy Motion M1400

Just curious, how much RAM do you have in your 1400? Does it definitely
have the View Anywhere screen? Does it have the 802.11b/g or 802.11a/b/g
wireless? USB DVD/CD-RW drive? Which battery and what other options did
you get on it? Asking price?

Do I get a commission? (Kidding!)

Re: Where to buy Motion M1400

It's brand new, still in the box, and DOES include View Anywhere. 6-cell
battery. 802.11b/g. No DVD/CD-RW drive.

I'm also including a copy of OneNote.

I've tried Ebay twice. The first time, I think my starting price was too
high. The second time, the high bidder never responded. I'd like to get the
$1,775 that it went for on ebay.

The reason that I am selling this is that Motion sent me the wrong model and
because they build to order, they would not exchange it.

It was the non-profit where I work that bought this. So we can't afford to
take a big loss on it.

You can see details here:

I appreciate the offer and wish you luck in selling it. Personally
I want to buy mine from Motion or an authorized reseller as Motion
told me that the warranty is not transferrable. The savings would
have to be greater to be worth the risk.

Thanks, Daniel

Re: Where to buy Motion M1400

Hi,

If you've not bought yet and are still looking around, I highly
recommend Alliance Technology Partners at http://www.alltp.com. I'd
seen their name on several posts in this group and others so I was
skeptical that someone was seeding their name.

However, if you plan to buy a Motion, a VAR is the best way to get
warranty and loaner coverage (you get a replacement tablet if/while
yours is at the factory for a few weeks) as well as options like View
Anywhere that are some times not available through the Motion website.
I worked with John Hill but I'm sure anyone there is good.

The only negative with Alliance? The $1999 base price jumped $400
because they automatically put in software for One Note, Alias, and
something else. I was okay with that once I asked why the price jump
and they gave me an immediate honest answer. But the price difference
was not made clear until I asked.

Bottomline, I still recommend them 100% as noted above: as a business
purchase, we had to have 3 years of warranty and loaner coverage and
Alliance had a View Anywhere screen when the Motion website did not.

Tim

Re: Where to buy Motion M1400

I ordered mine through my company's business account with Dell--I got a M1400
w/ 512 MB RAM, normal screen, 40 GB HD and a couple accessories for $1975
before tax. The view anywhere screen is about $300 more, I believe.

If I were ordering one, I would definitely get the View Anywhere screen. It
makes a HUGE difference, especially if one has some outdoor time - even on
weekends under a shady tree in the back yard.

Re: Where to buy Motion M1400

Add me to the list of pleased Alltp.com. I called them, got great
advice, placed my order and had it in 2 days. The VA is great. Beats
the hell out of my M200 and the new TC1100 that my boss has.

You can find posts and help from John the owner in the Motion forum at

Re: Where to buy Motion M1400

To me a tablet is all about the screen. The M1400VA screen is much
better than either of those. I have an M200 and had a lot of trouble
reading the screen unless I was directly over it. It is pretty much a
standard laptop screen. The T1100 with their best screen is a big step
up from the T1000, but it still doesn't hold a candle to the M1400VA,
plus I prefer the 12 to 10 inch screen. Though the 10" has an appeal
at times.

The 1400VA has very good battery life. With aggressive battery
conservation techniques, I recently spent a week in 8 hour meetings
and got through them with 2 batteries per day.

I find myself attached to the thing, every day I like it more and
more. And Alltp is the place to get it!
