New NEC Litepad

I've enjoyed my current NEC Litepad for over two years - but it is now
frustratingly slow.

I'm now seeing a new model available only in Japan (NEC Versa Pro
VY11F/GL-R) which is sold only with the Japanese version OS.

If I were to buy this tablet, would it be possible for me to change the OS
to English? How would I accomplish this?

I have a copy of SP2 that I downloaded onto my Litepad (to upgrade to the
latest version of the Tablet OS) - would I be able to use that?

Any other advice on this topic?

Many thanks, jfc.

Re: New NEC Litepad

You would need to obtain the operating system from the manufacturer, John.
Since NEC is apparently only shipping to the Japanese market, then that's
the OS which would be available from them. You might try contacting them to
see if they'd do a different order, though.

As for, I'm guessing, you're XP SP2 and Tablet PC Edition 2005 upgrade, if
it is in English, that's all it will update - the English language version
of the operating system. And you wouldn't be able to change the language
just with that version.

Another place you might want to contact is Dynamism:

http://www.dynamism.com/index.shtml
Dynamism.com - Next Generation Japanese Notebooks and Electronics

They might be able to get you one of the Japanese models with an English
version of XP Tablet Edition.
