Tablet help

I have a HP/Compaq Tablet PC TC1100 running Microsoft Windows XP Tablet
Edition with Microsoft Office 2000 and OneNote 20003. To be able to
use the writing function with Office 2000 do I need some sort of third
party software to make this work or do I need to upgrade to a newer
version of office? What are my options to to make this work.
Functionality is far superior than money at this point.

Re: Tablet help

Office XP (the 2002 version products) and Office 2003 are supported on
Tablet PCs. In fact, without Outlook 2003 you lose some of the
functionality of OneNote itself. I'd say go for Office 2003, and after you
do you can download the Office 2003 Tablet PC Update: Improved Ink
Recognition which adds a lot more context-sensitive functionality to Office
2003.

Re: Tablet help

Ok so out of the box Office 2000 wont support this correct? If not is
there any software that is out there that will allow this functionality
or is better just to upgrade to a newer version of Office?

Re: Tablet help

That's correct. I don't recall, but I believe Office 2000 had some of its
own "handwriting" functions built in, but no where near what Office 2003
offers. You might try using an application called PenOffice from
www.phatware.com. I haven't used it on Office 2000 applications, but plays
nice with others. Their web site has a 15-day trial you can download and
test.

please let me know.

Re: Tablet help

Do a Custom install in Add or Remove Programs. I hope, not recalling
whether or not Office 2000 has the Change button in there when selected. I
will tell you up-front, however, that the "handwriting" in Office 2000 is
from the analog realm of mouse and writing pad input, not the digital input
present on Tablet PCs.
