Easy docking with monitor

I have the TC1100, a docking station and a monitor - I am trying to get the
best config.

I can get it to be on both the tablet and monitor at once using the clone.
If I turn clone off I can get it on the monitor and not the tablet. The
problem is when I take the tablet off the docking station I have to reset it
to get the screen on again.

Is there any easy way to avoid all this mucking about ?

David

David, you may want to take a look at the information on Compaq's support
site:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...ortTaskId=4938
(URL starts at http and goes through 4938.)

You may also find Chapter 3 in the docking station manual interesting
regarding docked and undocked profiles on the TC1100:

Doesn't pressing the monitor button cycle between
internal/external/both?

Re: Easy docking with monitor

I got it - but it either turns off the external screen or has it on both -
never turns off the tablet screen when on external monitor.

Strange. Mine does the internal/both/external thing. I don't know if
there is a setting for this though.

I will give it another go tomorrow and try hiting it repeatedly and see how
it cycles.

I was playing with an extended desktop today which was weird, fun, sort of
useful in some ways and not others- handy to have a powerpoint running on
one screen linked to a projector and email on the other ;)

I always use mine on an extended desktop as I am programming with a
1600x1200 monitor on the external screen, and testing on the internal.

yeah it works well, I am wondering if I could do it on my home pc with a 2nd
monitor - would I need a 2nd gfx card or would the 2 outputs on the one I
have cope ?

Depends on which video card you have, but if it is reasonably new then
it should be able to do it fine. I run two video outputs on my main
desktop PC (although that is with a 256Mb GeForce 6800 so it should!)
