Re: landscape for startup setting

Which Tablet PC do you have? It would help to know approximately what OEM
hardware we're trying to help with here.

Re: landscape for startup setting

Strange. Has this happened since moving to XP SP2 and the Tablet PC Edition
2005 (like immediately afterward), or have you been running the update for a
while? Have you contacted Compaq, or updated the drivers for your system
since XP SP2 from here:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/fi...e/97_5840.html
I note a lot of new drivers released since last fall, after the OS upgrade.

You put a new hard drive in there? Perhaps you knocked something loose on
the inside. 8-) So much for Compaq being able to help out.

If you can open it up again, make sure all the connections are secure. I
don't know what else to tell you, if you've made internal modifications.

Re: landscape for startup setting

how can this have anything to do w/ changing hardware? this is obviously a
software issue b/c it does work in both modes-only upon S/U does it force
itself to portrait.

Re: landscape for startup setting

Sorry, I somehow got the notion it was only working in one direction. Try
going into Control Panel/Tablet and Pen Settings and then to the Display
tab. You should have the Orientation options in the top drop-down menu for
both Primary landscape and portrait, and Secondary landscape and portrait.
Select Primary landscape there.

Then go to the Sequence... area and tap the Change... button. Set #1 to
Primary landscape, for #2 select Primary portrait, etc. See if that doesn't
help.

Re: landscape for startup setting

yup tried that, also, this is a bit odd - when it boot's UP it will be in
Landscape, but during the startup process it changes to portrait which leads
me to think that There is a setting somewhere, but ****ed if I tenon where it
is !

Re: landscape for startup setting

I don't know where that might be, but just for a kick in the head, on the
Orientation Sequence Settings screen, change all for (1-4) to Primary
landscape, the OK your way out and restart the system. 8-)

If that doesn't fix it, then I would suggest contacting the OEM support
section and asking them. Don't mention the hard drive upgrade. 8-)

Re: landscape for startup setting

you can't have more than 1 setting the same, but by the same logic i removed
all options except for landscape - i've tried this before also, but this time
it worked.. let's see if it's a reliable fix :)

thanks
