Although I can't pin the timing down to anything in particular, my TIP no
longer allows me to edit words before I insert them. I used to be able to
pick the TIPs suggestions and get alternatives or edit the words before I'd
accepted the suggestions, now I have to insert the words (even though I can
see they're wrong) and then go back and highlight before it will let me
edit.

This was working post SP2 so that's not the issue. I was thinking of
reinstalling SP2 over the top. Is this wise ?

Do you have auto-insert selected in the Tablet Input Panel options? Check
in both the Writing Pad and Character Pad settings in the Options and remove
any check marks from "Automatically . . ."

Could you list the following from Control Panel/Regional and Language
Settings, first:
- On the Languages tab, are any check marks in boxes, if so which ones?
- Using the Details button on the Languages tab, on the Settings tab, what
is listed under Default input language?
- Same tab, what is listed under Installed services (in the panel)?
- On the Advanced tab, do either of the boxes have check marks in them?

You should have a check mark on the "Advanced tab in Extend support of
advanced text services to all programs." Try changing that, OK your way
out, close Control Panel and any other open programs, then restart your
system.

I have the same problem with my Acer tablet. i have checked the settings
which you suggested and my settings are exactly as you suggest but i still
have the problem. Please could you offer any other advice.
