Unfortunately it removes some of the functionality of the CMD window by doing that. It prevents repetitive actions like pressing the up arrow and changing parameters, and interactive options. With the old TIP you could just have it floating in a convenient location. It is a shame that there wasn't a 'floating' option. -- Woody Played Yagol for tabletPC yet? http://www.alienrat.com/games |

| Re: 2005 Write Anywhere Thread!! You know when the Tablet Input Panel is "floating" or in the Undock position you can grab the little :::: (they vertical on the right side of the TIP) and move the entire tip around the screen? IDEA 1 - I'd love it, adjustable by user preference. 8-) IDEA 2 - Are you aware you can use gestures for certain things in the TIP like Backspace, Space, Enter, Tab and, of course, Scratch-out: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u.../gestures.mspx -- Chris H. | Re: 2005 Write Anywhere Thread!! I AGREE! I'm a Newton user (still the best note taking device ever made) and it was this feature that got me to buy the Tablet. Write Anywhere is the closest emulation of the Newton that I have found. Thanks for this thread. Because of this I've decided NOT to upgrade to SP2. Come on MS. You got so close. Why go backward? | Interesting discussion. Have you tried ritePen? It reenables Write Anywhere and uses the SP2 recognition engine along with the ritePen one for greater accuracy. I wrote an article on my site discussing using ritePen on a Tablet PC. I use it all the time on mine. http://jkontherun.blogs.com/jkonther...ritepen_o.html

In my experience, Rite Pen was too slow. There were indications that I hadn't tried every trick available for speeding it up, but I gave up on searching for solutions after I discovered it bleeding ink onto my OrangeGuava Desktop. At any rate, you might investigate RitePen, if you haven't already. It's not a bad price (and that's coming from a major miser). MS loves for users to find their software solutions with other vendors, you know! <eg> http://www.ritepen.com -- TCPW The Miniature Mage |
