Any Panasonic Toughbook CF-18 users successfully update to XP SP2?

I just got a Panasonic Toughbook CF-18 running WinXP Tablet Edition and heard
that installing WinXP SP2 could be a problem. The main Panasonic Toughbook
Service and Support Website http://www.tcc.toughbook.com has no information
whatsoever concerning SP2 upgrading.

A Panasonic Japanese website
http://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pc/i...inxpsp2_e.html offers 3
potential problems when updating to SP2 with fixes that didn't look too
difficult. I decided to contact US Pansonic tech support to be sure before I
took the plunge and received the following reply: "Windows XP SP2 is not
supported on your model [CF-18BD]. When or if ,there is going to be an
update, I don't know. I recommend that you stay with SP1 for now." That
sounds a little over cautious in view of Panasonic's Japanese web site.

Have any CF-18 users tried to upgrade to WinXP SP2?

Re: Any Panasonic Toughbook CF-18 users successfully update to XP SP2?

I don't have a Toughbook, but if you look through the information here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx especially the What to
Know Before Downloading and Installing, follow the suggestions and be
prepared by backing up your unit just in case, you should be fine.

Sometimes one wonders about these "support" people who make sure blanket
statements. I would told by a Linksys tech while asking some general
questions that no one should be running the new Windows XP Firewall because
"it'll block everything!" LOL!

Re: Any Panasonic Toughbook CF-18 users successfully update to XP

It should be fairly straight-forward, but it is best to follow the
instructions of what to do before updating.
