| TIP malfunction in Outlook 2003 journal entries 1. When using handwriting recognizer on the subject line of a journal entry, all text is recognized as numbers. 2. Digital ink is not an option under INSERT l OBJECT, nor does there appear to be any other ability to directly enter digital ink into the body of a journal entry. |

| Re: TIP malfunction in Outlook 2003 journal entries Chris - It's SP2 / Tablet pc 2005. Yes, I installed the handwriting "upgrade" for Office 2003 a week or two ago. Everything is up to date according to the Windows and Office 2003 automatic update websites. Thanks, Mike "Chris H." wrote: > Mike, which version of the Tablet PC Edition are you running, and have you > updated the Office 2003 applications and also with this file: > http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en > -- > Chris H. > Microsoft Windows MVP/Tablet PC > Tablet Creations - http://nicecreations.us/ > Associate Expert > Expert Zone - www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone > > > "Mike J Schindler" <MikeJSchindler******.com> wrote in message > news:DF32B783-4189-49D2-AC42-759916C2A812@microsoft.com... > > 1. | Re: TIP malfunction in Outlook 2003 journal entries Did this work at one time, Mike? If so, and it was "last week" I would suggest you use a Restore Point from System Restore to go back to when it worked. I'd also look at what you may have installed on your system which may have caused the issue. Otherwise, do other applications where you use the Tablet Input Panel function properly i the conversion? If so, then it is limited to Windows Journal and you should go into the Command Prompt window (not Start/Run) and navigate to the C:\Program Files\Windows Journal\ directory. In there, type "regsvr32 <filename.dll>" without the quotes, individually on each of these four files: - nbdoc.dll - inkseg.dll - mspvwctl.dll - nbmaptip.dll When complete, exit the Command Prompt window and restart your Tablet PC. -- Chris H. | Re: TIP malfunction in Outlook 2003 journal entries Chris - Thanks again for the reply, but I want to make sure you haven't confused applications. This is regarding the journal in OUTLOOK 2003, not the Journal application that comes with Windows XP, Tablet PC edition. I tried doing a restore prior to the update of Office 2003 handwriting recognition with no affect. I don't know if this problem existed before because, while I have used the journal function of Outlook in the past quite a bit, I haven't ever tried to change the default auto filled contact name that's placed on the subject line when making a journal entry from a contact card. There has been no other recent software application installations or changes, of any kind. I'm not having problems with the TIP in any other applications. Probably unrelated, but out of curiosity, is the command line routine you described a technique for registering an application in the system registry? | Re: TIP malfunction in Outlook 2003 journal entries Okay, sorry, I didn't see you were talking about Outlook's Journal (it is in the subject line, and I wasn't reading that). 8-) What I listed for command line use pertains to Windows Journal. On the Outlook Journal issue, I'd post to one of the regular Outlook newsgroups, like microsoft.public.outlook or microsoft.public.outlook.contacts to see if one of the Outlook MVPs may be able to help you. I took a look in Outlook's Help, and found nothing about changing the default contact's name. It may be you need to create a new entry and then insert/copy the previous information and delete the old entry. I really don't know. You may also want to investigate the information here: http://www.slipstick.com/addins/journal.htm That's the site of Sue Mosher, who is an Outlook MVP, and she's got a lot of information. Sorry I can't help. 8-( -- Chris H.
