SP": limited or no connectivity

Installed Win XP sp2 on Portege 3500. Now I get "limited or no connectivity"
on my LAN .
I can ping the laptop from the PC, but not the PC from the laptop. Have
tried deleting & recreating the connection, turning off Firewall, resetting
IP .... and Microsoft KB, Toshiba ... no joy.
Anyone else had this problem?
Patrick

Re: limited or no connectivity

No, but try installing the drivers again from the Toshiba web site. There
are a lot of changes made, especially in the Registry, with XP SP2 and the
drivers seem to fall victim to that a lot.

Then go into Network Connections, right-click your LAN icon and select
properties. Make sure all your settings are correct there, including being
on "infrastructure" as your connection.

If that's all proper, go to the Command Prompt (not Start/Run) and put in
"ipconfig" without the quotes. See if the result is an IP address within
the range of your LAN. If it is a 169.*.*.* number, you're not seeing the
LAN at all and probably have a corrupt winsock.

You may need to follow the information in this Knowledge Base article:
