| Re: AOL IM not launching Well, I don't know how to support that program. The operating system is simply Windows XP Pro, therefore it should run the same. Perhaps you need to either uninstall, reboot the system and try installing again, or use a Restore Point prior to your initial install and then make sure you've got the latest version, have shut down your anti-virus software and then start a fresh installation. What a shame the people supporting their product don't know what they're doing. 8-) By the way, Windows Messenger and above supports Ink on Tablet PCs. You might also look into a program called Trillian (http://www.trillian.cc/learn/), which supports AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo Messenger and IRC - without having those individual programs installed. -- Chris H. Tell them you have XP Pro (you do). Later toss in the bit about it being a tablet -- or not. BTW, am noticing a rash of AIM problems in a variety of groups: windowsxp.* and anti-spyware public beta(http://communities.microsoft.com/new...yware&sLCID=us). So the "try connecting later" advice they gave you may be accurate and their way of saying "we don't why but it's not working right now." Some folks have mentioned success with reinstalling the program but that could just be coincidence if the AIM servers are currently up and down. -- Sharon F MS-MVP ~ Windows Shell/User |

| Re: AOL IM not launching Hi, I thought it was just me as well. The first time I ran the program it worked, but then subsequent times I startup the program nothing would happen and instances would show up in my Task Manager under Processes. | Re: AOL IM not launching Do you really need to use AOL's Client software or can you use alternatives? I had the same issue with their software not loading, but I found other alternatives that could get the job done (maybe even better and without ads). http://www.trillian.cc http://gaim.sourceforge.net http://www.miranda-im.org Personally, I use Trillian. Though I could go without AOL Instant Messenger all together, but since most of the people I communicate with use it, I have no choice but to submit.
