Backing up Handwriting & voice recognition

I would like to be able to back up my handwriting & voice recognition files
on my Tablet PC incase they are lost or I wanted to migrate them to a new
machine. Where are those files located so I can back them up & is there any
specific advice for doing this as well as restoring them when necessary?

Re: Backing up Handwriting & voice recognition

Pat,

A special Speech Profile Backup Utility is available from MS. I don't have
the link on hand, but try a Google search.

For transferring words in your User Dictionary to use on another computer,
the Exporter Function in our abletDictionaryMgr has been created for
specific purpose.

Please feel free to e-mail me for additional information.

Fritz

Re: Backing up Handwriting & voice recognition

The speech profile manager is located at

http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...ProfileMgr.exe

This tool backs up your speech profiles and your dictionary of words added
when using the TIP. (the TIP actually uses the speech custom dictionary to
store its files.) Fred's ablet Dictionary manager does much more in that it
lets you edit and add to the dictionary, so it's worth checking out as well.

There are no handwriting recognition files to back up because the tablet
does not learn your handwriting. It only learns your vocabulary
(dictionary).

Jeff

If you want to bookmark the download page for later use it seems to be:

Re: Backing up Handwriting & voice recognition

Can anyone tell what a typical size for this file might be? I tried an
Export on my Default File and it turned out to be almost 50MB! However, I
have done a lot of training with my system, so perhaps 50Meg is plausible...?

That sounds reasonable - I remember at one time when I was doing similar
things I had about 80 MB or so.

So either it's normal, or we're both abnormal. ;)
