| Why can I annote PDF in Journal and not in one Note? Hi, I'm able to annotate PDF files in Windows Journal, but when I try to import a PDF file into One Note, I'm only able to import a link to the original file. Does this means that Microsoft, has included PDF annotating capabilities in Journal but note in one Note? Is there a way to annotate PDF in OneNote? (I' have Windows XP Tablet 2005 and One Note 2003 SP1) Regards Andre |

| Re: Why can I annote PDF in Journal and not in one Note? No, there isn't a way in OneNote, Andre. Some programs match up better with Adobe's system, and in the case of OneNote it doesn't do it - yet. If you have questions on OneNote, there's a separate newsgroup - microsoft.public.onenote - for support of the program. -- Chris H. Is there a way to annotate PDF in OneNote? Neither program has PDF annotation capabilities. Microsoft has shipped the Journal Note Writer driver to print documents (including PDFs) to the JNT format. So you are actually annotating a transformed copy of a PDF. Someone has done a OneNote virtual printer as well, but I haven't used it in a long time and can't comment on its success with printing PDFs. |

| Re: Why can I annote PDF in Journal and not in one Note? Which reminded me, Mike, thanks, that GoBinder (http://www.gobinder.com/) from the Agilix folks will do PDF annotations, by using what they call "ePaper" to import then annotate, take notes with highlighters, text or digital ink - in your choice of color. There's a free trial on the URL above. -- Chris H. | Re: Why can I annote PDF in Journal and not in one Note? There is also PDF Annotator (http://www.ograhl.com/en/pdfannotator/) which "will be released in early January 2005". | Re: Why can I annote PDF in Journal and not in one Note? Checkout this OneNote powertoy to ink your PDF's in OneNote. http://www.analogreality.com/onenote...mageWriter.htm Here is a good write up on the OneNote powertoys as well http://michaelhyatt.blogs.com/workin...osoft_onenote/ Rob Bushway Tablet PC MVP "Andre Sousa" <Andre Sousa@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:D7FA52C1-80C1-4B08-BE8D-4EBFB8A9BB06@microsoft.com... > Hi, > I'm able to annotate PDF files in Windows Journal, but when I try to > import > a PDF file into One Note, I'm only able to import a link to the original > file. > Does this means that Microsoft, has included PDF annotating capabilities > in > Journal but note in one Note? | Re: Why can I annote PDF in Journal and not in one Note? Check out PDF Annotator. It just got released. You can annotate PDF's in ink, edit those annotations, and create PDF's. PDF Annotator does what Adobe Acrobat doesn't support. http://www.ograhl.com/en/pdfannotator/ "Andre Sousa" <Andre Sousa@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:D7FA52C1-80C1-4B08-BE8D-4EBFB8A9BB06@microsoft.com... > Hi, > I'm able to annotate PDF files in Windows Journal, but when I try to > import > a PDF file into One Note, I'm only able to import a link to the original > file. > Does this means that Microsoft, has included PDF annotating capabilities > in > Journal but note in one Note? One of my frustrations is using Acobat for a slide presentation and not having the ability to draw on it for the audience. This doesnt even work in Acrobat 7. |

| Re: Why can I annote PDF in Journal and not in one Note? Neal, the issue is with Adobe and their program, which is seriously unaware of Ink. As has been suggested in this newsgroup, there are various ways to get around it, but they won't be native to PDF files. One thing you may want to look at (and there's a free trial) is PenOffice from PhatWare at http://www.phatware.com/penoffice/ . -- Chris H. | Re: Why can I annote PDF in Journal and not in one Note? It does work in Single Page View, but Zooming functionality is not there yet. the developer says its' coming. I'd highly recommend downloading the trial. There is a good discussion of PDF Annotator on www.TabletPCBuzz.com. http://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/forum/to...TOPIC_ID=21112 http://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/forum/to...TOPIC_ID=21114 "Neal Stoughton" <nmstough@uci.edu> wrote in message news:eQRGQH3%23EHA.3368@TK2MSFTNGP15.phx.gbl... > > "Rob Bushway (Tablet PC MVP)" <rob@zoeinc.com> wrote in message > news:cs7n20$91c$1@news.valueweb.com... >> Check out PDF Annotator. | Re: Why can I annote PDF in Journal and not in one Note? I reccomend http://www.analogreality.com/onenote...mageWriter.htm This printer is better than the journal printer in everyway possible. You can increase the resolution so quality is not lost like in the journal printer. It works great. In fact that printer is the reason I brought oneNote. The irony is I was forced to buy a microsoft product due to the lack of support/(poor journal printer) from microsoft. Thank god for the person who made the onenote power tool, and microsoft should thank him aswell. The pdf annator people are talking about is still very new and it can't read pdfs properly, so it is not very useable atm, depending on the pdfs you want to edit.
