Acer + Seimens + Bluetooth + GPRS == 0

I installed the SIEMENS GPRS ModemAssistant software on my Acer C111 but
have yet to connect my tablet to the internet, as advertised. According
to the tools and docs, I should be able to connect the tablet to my
Bluetooth and use the phone's GPRS net connection to get online. Has
anyone succeeded with this kind of setup, perhaps even on a non-Seimens
phone? Thanks!

RE: Acer + Seimens + Bluetooth + GPRS == 0

Hi Metavalent,

I use this setup and it works on my Acer C302 XMi. Check if you use the
Widcomm Bluetooth software. If you do, Windows might have snatched your
Bluetooth connection. Basically, since SP2 Windows assumes that all Bluetooth
devices should be run by the Windows driver, which shuts the Widcomm software
out.

Open the Device Manager, check if your Bluetooth receiver shows up and then
check which driver is used. If you do not need the advanced features of the
Widcomm software, deinstall it. On my system, the Widcomm system tray program
regularly hangs and needs to be stopped and restarted before I can connect
again. Additionally, the Siemens software works much better with the
Microsoft driver.

Now, if you use the Microsoft driver, you should have a "Generic Bluetooth
Device" in your Device Manager. Check if the Siemens software also installed
a network connection called "GPRS via Bluetooth (tm)". If not, try
reinstalling the Siemens software with Bluetooth enabled.

If you use the Widcomm software, you need to right click on the system tray
icon and connect to the serial port of your phone. The connection will be
dropped, but after a short while, the phone should connect to your computer
and then sync.

Hope this helps. If you have additional questions, post a reply,

Kind regards
